I remember Ivan’s smile when he came down into the Listening Room from the gallery, where he taught himself French by watching LCI from 1994 during his breaks between assignments. I was impressed by his determination to master the language, his interest in the culture, his taste for the southeast of France. I enjoyed his unique humour, his sense of the absurd, his anecdotes and stories. We had fun playing tennis on the BBCM court a few times. I left in 1998. We bumped into each other in 2017. Your memory is alive, Ivan.

A kind and gentle man, whose infectious smile always lit up the room and made you feel better for the rest of the day. The world is a poorer place without him. RIP, Ivan.

So sad and so difficult to believe that Ivan has gone...He was so much alive. So much enjoyed exploring Moscow and sharing his impressions. I remember when Ivan visited Moscow office he was always so optimistic, so pleasant to talk to... It was winter and he enjoyed very much skating in Red Square. And he tried to go there as often as possible enjoying the new experience. He was interested in so many things...
